See attached letter from Fr Paul Jones, Chair of the governors.
Lent is about to begin, and so it’s opportune to reflect on God’s goodness and mercy – to give thanks for his shelter and salvation.
Last week we returned from visiting our son and his family in York. Whilst there we watched the rising waters of the River Ouse creep towards their home, flooding the woodland just across the road. Thankfully the flood stopped short of their garden, but there are many whose homes and businesses have been inundated.
Around the world nations are on the alert and working to contain the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19. The tiniest of organisms can be deadly.
These are timely reminders of the precarious nature of our “earthly tents” – both our homes and our bodies – but we can take heart as God’s Word assures us that we dwell in the shelter of the Most High, that we rest in the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91). In Christ we have an eternal hope and salvation!
During the harshest of the winter there are all sorts of needs right on our doorstep in Torquay. Please would you particularly remember, pray for and support the Winter Night Shelter (ToWNS) project and the Torquay Community Larder (see below for more detail).
CTT Prayer Breakfast – Saturday 7th March, 8am at Central Church
We’ll be welcoming our MP for his quarterly visit and are looking forward to hearing the latest from Westminster as well as an update on issues in our own constituency.
This is a great opportunity to inform your prayers – a peep inside the lions’ den!?!
There’ll also be the usual light breakfast and good fellowship.
ToWNS – operating in Torquay until the morning of Friday 13th March
Remember to continue to pray good health and safety for all – guests, coordinators and volunteers.
We may be “entertaining angels unawares”.
Torquay Community Larder – demand is up but supplies are running low
Our team of volunteers do a marvellous job in serving those in need, but they are beginning to struggle to match supplies with needs as stocks run low.
Can you help to augment the shelves? Goods and financial contributions will both be welcome. Donations of food can be given at all the usual collection points, but if you would like to give a monetary gift (either a one off or a regular donation) please contact Torquay@salvationarmy.org.uk or phone 01803 294197. Thank you for all your support.

Many of you will know that Trevor Staveley has been unwell. He has now taken the decision to step down from his role as Coordinator of Torbay Street Pastors. Attached is a letter from the trustees, acknowledging all that Trevor has done for the ministry. Please pray for him and his wife Sue, and for the Street Pastors team as they continue to faithfully serve the community.
